CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A teenager disappeared after going underwater in Lake Michigan Sunday.

Officials said the 16-year-old boy was last seen in the water off Rainbow Beach just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday.  He went under and didn't resurface.

Chicago Fire Department divers looked for the boy and couldn't find him.

Police and fire crews had  to end their search because of bad weather conditions.

Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of dangerous swimming conditions, with waves of five to 10 feet high being recorded.

The high swim risk will remain in Lake Michigan through Tuesday night, the NWS said.
