ORLAND PARK, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – The Illinois Secretary of State’s office opened a new driver services facility in Orland Park, ensuring residents continue to have access to licenses, road exams and vehicle registration after the township canceled its previous lease.
The new facility, located at 18230 Orland Parkway, began operations Monday with expanded hours and additional services, including road test appointments. Officials said the site was secured through a one-year, no-cost lease with nonprofit CTF Illinois, which stepped in to provide space on short notice.
Village leaders said the arrangement keeps more than 60,000 annual visitors from being forced to travel to nearby suburbs such as Joliet, Midlothian or Burbank, while also protecting Orland Park businesses that benefit from DMV traffic.
“We know how important it is for our residents to have essential services close to home,” said Mayor Jim Dodge. “When it became clear the Orland Township site would be closing, we worked quickly with our partners to make sure the Drivers Facility stayed right here in our Village.”
The Secretary of State’s office said planning is underway for a permanent Orland Park facility once the temporary lease expires.
