(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Work trucks bearing tools have been targeted by thieves on the city’s Northwest Side.
Chicago police said that since July 23, there have been at least 25 thefts involving work vans and trucks in several neighborhoods including Jefferson Park, Portage Park, Norwood Park, North Center, Dunning and O’Hare.
Police said the thieves break the driver or passenger side window to get inside and get to the rear of the vehicle where tools and construction equipment is stored.
Police suggest people park their vehicles inside a garage or in a well-lighted area with heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic, install surveillance cameras, and watch for suspicious people.
