(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A third busload of migrants from the southern border has arrived in Chicago, Mayor Lightfoot's office confirmed Wednesday.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been sending busloads of migrants who requested asylum at the southern border to cities with Democratic mayors as a form of protest against White House border policies.
The first busload of migrants arrived in Chicago last week.
The Salvation Army is working with the city to assist migrants when they arrive.
Spokesman Brian Duewel said it's part of the organization's overall mission to make sure people have shelter and food.
"This is exactly that," he said.
The migrants are getting food and shelter at the Salvation Army's Freedom Center in Humboldt Park.
