(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There've been numerous protests this week around Chicago's United Center, where the DNC is now well into its third day.
This included a Pro-Israel rally at a small residential park on the West Side near the United Center – where the DNC is being held.
The Israeli American Council about 30 participants gathered at Park 578 Wednesday evening.
A few dozen Chicago police officers guarded the perimeter as demonstrators with the Israeli American Council and the Chicago Jewish Alliance – along with Christian, Hindu and Syrian groups – stood in solidarity with Israel.
They said that they cannot let their voices continue to be overshadowed by the much larger and louder pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
Many of the signs held here read "Jews for Trump." Organizers of this pro-Israel rally said that they feel a lot of antisemitism coming from the Democratic Party when it comes to the Israel-Hamas war.
They also said that they will always stand with Israel and the right to defend itself.
About a half hour after the roughly 30 pro-Israeli protesters left Park 578, thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators – in an unplanned march – came west from Union Park.
After dozens of pro-Palestinian protestors were arrested Tuesday night outside the Israeli Consulate in the West Loop, demonstrators with an unrelated pro-Palestinian group gathered.
As the protesters made their way towards Park 578, organizers could be heard over megaphones urging participants to stick to the rules.
A couple hundred police officers formed a hard line as a few delegates made their way to the security perimeter.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is scheduled to formally accept the Democratic nomination for vice president.
