The Illinois Department of Agriculture has confirmed cases of bird flu in three Canadian geese found in Bloom County.
Illinois has not recorded any avian flu in backyard or commercial poultry this year, but officials say this finding shows the virus may be circulating within the wild bird population in the state.
Agriculture officials say lock owners and veterinarians should report any unusual findings in domestic poultry, an increase in mortality, decrease in water consumption, decrease in egg production or respiratory signs.
