ZION (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating a deadly house fire in far north suburban Zion that kept crews busy for hours this morning.
High winds made fighting the fire in the two-story home on Enoch Avenue a challenge.
The Zion Fire & Rescue Department said neighbors called 911 shortly before midnight after seeing fire and smoke and when the first crews arrived. The fire had spread to multiple areas of the house.
Fire command called for mutual aid and over a dozen departments from Illinois and Wisconsin responded.
Firefighters found three people inside the home, who paramedics were not able to resuscitate and they died.
A neighbor was treated for smoke inhalation.
The home is considered a total loss.
