LAKE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three freshmen at Crown Point High School are facing criminal charges after a video was circulated on social media of the beating of a classmate.
Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez called the attack “pure evil.” He said the video made him sick to his stomach.
The boy was lured to a bathroom at the Lake County Fairgrounds by someone he thought was a friend and two boys “punched, kicked and stomped on” him while the third recorded it on his phone, according to Martinez.
The boy was pleading for them to let him go home. An assistant principal learned about the video. All the boys involved in the incident are 15-years-old.
“I am disgusted by this display of violence and utter humiliation from the boys who preyed upon the young man," Martinez said. "Not only did they bully and assault the boy physically, but they also attempted to shame him even further by spreading the video among other students.”
The eight charges against the teens include kidnapping, criminal confinement and battery.
