CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Wednesday’s death of music icon Tina Turner brought millions of tributes to social media, including one with a WBBM connection.

Former WBBM Newsradio Managing Editor Deidra White posted a picture to Facebook Wednesday that captured the time Turner paid a visit to the WBBM newsroom nearly 27 years ago.

“She did a TV interview downstairs with Chan 2 (CBS-2) and I was sent to see if she would come upstairs to WBBM Newsradio. A regular practice at McClurg. To my surprise, she graciously said yes and followed me up the backstairs. I will always remember the moment and her Armani suit,” wrote White in the comment section of her post.

Former WBBM  Director of News and Programming Chris Berry, who provided the picture, also recalled the moment in June of 1996.

“I believe it was part of the promotion she was doing for an appearance at Navy Pier in the summer of 1996. She came by the old CBS Studios on McClurg Court for an interview. We had a camera in the radio station’s promotions department and now that moment is frozen in time,” commented Berry.
