(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Caitlin Clark effect has resulted in a huge boost to ticket prices for games that the Chicago Sky will play against her new team: the Indiana Fever.
Clark and the Fever will play at Wintrust Arena on June 23 against the Sky and their new draft picks: Kamilla Cardoso, Angel Reese and Brynna Maxwell.
“Hey Chi town, it’s Angel Reese, the Bayou Barbie,” Reese said in a video posted to her social media accounts on Monday night. “I’m coming to Chi town. I’m super excited to compete, work hard, and let’s win.”
Max Waisvisz with Gold Coast Tickets says the new players have generated plenty of interest.
“Now everybody’s starting to call up … probably after watching this draft,” he said. “I mean, they did start to get interested when they were watching the NCAA Final Four.”
He said fans have been looking for and buying tickets to see Clark, specifically, ever since Indiana secured the No. 1 overall pick.
A quick search found tickets for Sky’s home games against the Fever start at $225 — about 10 times what other home games are selling for — and for as much as $1,700.
Waisvisz said he’s looking into buying more tickets and will be watching prices for the games in late June and August.
