(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An online food critic with millions of followers continues his tour of Chicago's food scene by taking on the battle of the Italian beefs.
Last week, Tik Tok star Keith Lee’s glowing review of Amici Chicago drove so many customers to the Buena Park eatery that it ran out of food.
Now he's giving the city's Italian beef sandwiches a try, starting with Portillo’s.
“Ain't the same with all the peppers. Yeah, we need some spice for sure,” Lee said.
Then Al's Italian Beef on Wes Taylor.
“The meat is way better. The bread is better. The sauce that it’s dipped in is better. The peppers are spicier and have more flavor.
“I got Al's, but as always, this is my opinion.”
The Al's win comes despite a slightly higher price tag, but Lee did Ding Portillo's for initially forgetting his order of hot peppers.
The comment section seemed to agree with one user writing quote, “We knew Owl's was better without question.”
Many suggested that Lee swing by Johnny's Beef in Elmwood Park for a real Italian beef sandwich.
