ISLAND LAKE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An investigation is underway into the death of a toddler found unresponsive at a suburban daycare center.
Island Lake police said a 23-month-old old boy was found not breathing last Tuesday at Lots of Tots Childcare Inc. Daycare workers immediately began CPR, which was continued by police until the Wauconda Fire Department arrived.
The child was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he died on Saturday.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined what caused the toddler’s death. The daycare staff gave statements to police, and no one has been arrested.
