(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two Thornton Township Trustees are preventing the board from conducting business Tuesday night by skipping the meeting.

Christopher Gonzalez and Carmen Carlisle said in a joint statement they've made the "difficult decision" to skip the meeting.

Their absence means there won't be a quorum and business can't be conducted. Both say there are concerns about how the appointed Township Supervisor, Tiffany Henyard, has been spending taxpayer money.

They're also not in favor of appointing a new trustee to fill a vacancy. They want that person elected.

They also want to see an end to what they say are unnecessary conflicts during board meetings.

Henyard has faced similar problems as mayor of Dolton.

Last week, Dolton Trustee Kiana Belcher told WBBM Newsradio Henyard never received approval for the installation of "Super Mayor" banners, nor were they ever paid for.

In a statement, the Dolton trustees said the mayor has a continuing practice of engaging vendors without board approval.

"This disregard for proper protocol serves only to promote her personal agenda while unfairly burdening taxpayers with the costs," it read.
