(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — City leaders gathered last week to support Bronzeville’s Truth Restaurant, which expanded to Chicago's 57th Street Beach.
Truth on the Beach restaurant, located on Chicago's Shoreline at 57th Street and DuSable Lakeshore Drive, is one of only four black owned restaurants on the city's lakefront.
The restaurant is an expansion of Truth in Bronzeville. Owner Peytyn Willborn is bringing her spin to life at the beach Tuesday through Sunday with music, tacos and cocktails.
“We want you to be able to enjoy yourself. We want you to wiggle your feet in the sand while you're eating on some good tacos and have a nice cocktail,” Willborn said.
Willborn says the restaurant has a warm family atmosphere.

The grand opening was attended by city leaders who came together to support the business.
“I think it's just an amazing opportunity to highlight the south lakefront. At the same time, elevate black businesses that have been doing really good work in our community,” said Alderman Desmon Yancy (5th).
Chicago Alderman David Moore (17th) said it's an opportunity to get the Hyde Park community to the beach.
“We got to get our communities and the people within the communities using our beaches more.”
Truth on the Beach has happy hour deals week days from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Those deals include half off frozen drinks and buy one get one half off cocktails.
