(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Cook County judge has set bond at $500,000 for a Chicago man charged with murdering a woman at a Glenview motel last weekend.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Melvin Trimble of Chicago and Aliyaha Frierson of Chicago had been in a tumultuous dating relationship for a decade. They say the 27-year-old Frierson rented a room at the Motel 6 on Milwaukee Avenue for five nights and listed Trimble as a guest.
Other occupants called the front desk early Sunday to report hearing a gunshot and a woman scream.
Prosecutors say Trimble dialed 9-1-1 some 45 minutes after the gunshot. The state's attorney's office says he told the dispatcher he had been involved in a tussle that ended up deadly.
Police found a load 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the room. Frierson, who was unresponsive, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
