The cook county sheriff's office says it happened at 12:50 a.m. on May 28, 2026 near the 7500 block of South Ashland in Chicago.
The sheriff's office and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police were conducting a joint enforcement operation targeting cargo theft when drones showed three suspects breaking into cargo containers.
Officers arrested 32-year-old Emmanuel Warner of Dolton and 31-year-old Jonathan Conway of Chicago, but the third suspect got away.
Officers also recovered 12 portable AC units valued at $2,400.
