Two Illinois communities make the list of most 'Christmassy' towns in US

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two Illinois communities are getting recognized on a list of top U.S. places to get infused with the Christmas spirit.

The photobook website Mixbook chose 75 towns with the strongest Christmas vibes, compiled with the help of 3,000 families.

Coming in at No. 49 among "Christmassy" honorees was picturesque Galena, Illinois on the state’s northwestern edge. It got high marks for its 19th-century buildings adorned with lights and decorations and ability to evoke a bygone era.

Coming in at No. 58 was the western suburb of Naperville, which is praised for its holiday-related events and River Walk.

The most “Christmassy” destination in America? That would be Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, home of Dollywood.
