Two men in critical condition after being rescued from Lake Michigan

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two men are in critical condition after being rescued from Lake Michigan Thursday.

The first rescue happened around 6:45 p.m. near Ohio Street Beach.

Officials responded to the area in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive for a report of a person in the water and pulled a 22-year-old man from the lake, Chicago fire officials said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, officials said.

The second incident happened at 31st Street Beach just after 10 p.m.

A 65-year-old man was walking on the pier when he fell into the water, according to officials. He was transported to a hospital and treated for trauma to the body.

Detectives are investigating.
