CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two people were critically injured overnight in a rear-end crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Illinois State Police said at around 1:15 a.m. Friday a car traveling on the Outbound Dan Ryan near Taylor Street slammed into the back of a semi-trailer truck and then hit a concrete median barrier. The car's driver was completely ejected from the vehicle, while the passenger was partially ejected.
Both victims were sent to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Crash cleanup and the ISP's investigation shut down a portion of the expressway for nearly six hours and created quite the bottleneck on the nearby Kennedy Expressway.
