(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Authorities in Cicero say a 38-year-old Uber driver and father of three is on life support after being shot Monday evening in his car.
Cicero Police Supt. Jerry Chlada said the driver was shot around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of 23rd Street and 55th Avenue. He was shot in the head inside his vehicle.
Witnesses told police four males fled south, Chlada said, and police were able to arrest one man.
Chlada says the driver was being kept alive by machine for the sake of organ donation.
“It’s so sad because by all accounts that we have, this is just a really good, hard-working guy who’s just trying to make a buck to raise his three kids,” he said Tuesday.
Supt. Chlada said there was a carjacking at the same intersection three weeks ago, and Cicero Police are looking into a possible connection.
