CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - University of Chicago students will continue to get a free ride on some parts of the CTA.
The Chicago Transit Board has authorized a new five-year contract with the University of Chicago, which allows the school to fully subsidize service on some bus routes operated by the CTA that serve the University area.
Through the agreement, the routes are available at no cost to U of C students, faculty, and staff, those bus routes are the #171 U. of Chicago/Hyde Park and the #172 U. of Chicago/Kenwood routes.
U of C Community members do have to pay to ride the #192 U. of Chicago Hospitals Express, and that route, like the other two, is also available to members of the general public.
