(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — For the first time since 2017, U.S. women took home golf’s Solheim Cup on Sunday.

The biennial golf tournament pits women from the U.S. against a team comprising women from all over Europe.

Team Europe was hoping to capture a record fourth-straight Solheim Cup victory. The Americans, though, jumped out to an early lead to start the weekend and held on, with Lilia Vu sinking the winning putt for a birdie.

The U.S. improved its record to 11-7-1 in the Solheim Cup, which first began in 1990.
