
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The COVID-19 pandemic gave rise to mental health struggles, particularly affecting young people, so Illinois has introduced a new grant to address this issue.
llinois is pumping out $3.5 million, which will be distributed among 19 recipients, including behavioral health facilities, educational institutions, health care organizations, local health departments and colleges.
"IDPH is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of children and young people who have been through a very challenging and disruptive time as a result of the pandemic," said IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra.
"We are very pleased to be able to support these thoughtful and innovative strategies to strengthen child and adolescent health."
The grant amounts range from $92,000 to $200,000.
