CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- DePaul University announced upgrades coming to its academics and athletics facilities.

DePaul is creating three interdisciplinary institutes relating to poverty, environmental sustainability, and artificial intelligence.

There will also be an athletics project, including the construction of a state-of-the-art basketball practice facility and updates to the Sullivan Athletic Center and McGrath-Phillips Arena.

Both facilities will position the university for success in the Big East Conference and nationally, according to DePaul.

The estimated total of approximately $60 million for both capital projects will be funded primarily through donor gifts.
