CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a $50,000 reward for information about an assault of one of its carriers in Little Village.
Saturday’s attack was the second one in just the last week.
Chicago police said at about 9:15 a.m. a 28-year-old postal worker got into her mail truck and found a man waiting for her near 28th and Pulaski. He attempted to sexually assault her but she was able to break free.
Labray Brown told CBS-2 her heart is breaking for her co-worker.
“It could have happened to any one of us,” Brown said.
Mack Julion with the National Association of Mail Carriers Chicago said the union wants postal police officers to go on routes with carriers.
“We’re concerned because something needs to be done. We’re talking roughly 29 or 30 incidents since the middle of August,” Julion said.
The mail truck was found five miles away. Chicago police and postal inspection service are looking for the attacker.
