Need some Valentine's Day getaway ideas? Don't have to look too far

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --You don't have to go very far to have a fun Valentine's Day getaway.

Daniel Thomas, Deputy Director of the Illinois office of tourism tells the Noon Business Hour that you can drive or take an Amtrak train to Bloomington to stay at the Vrooman mansion.


"Imagine staying in the Vrooman Mansion- a 19th century castle," he said. Thomas also said the mansion has a package with Illinois Made through which visitors can experience vineyards and Epiphany Farms Restaurant that provides meals with "ethically sourced ingredients for one- of- a- kind dining experience."

He said Galena is another great place for a Valentine's Day trip. "Galena is a statewide favorite."

Thomas said couples can stay at cozy log cabins or the Goldmoor Inn, which overlooks the Mississipi River.

"You get this majestic views of the mighty Mississippi."

And of course, visitors can stroll through Galena Main Street, which has "a wonderful historic shopping area."

And if you want to stay in Chicago, love birds can spend Valentine's Day weekend in downtown with "a romantic escape to the famous Drake hotel on the Magnificent Mile."
