(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Authorities in the north suburbs said a van transporting jail detainees from Lake County to McHenry County collided with a car Wednesday afternoon on Belvidere Road in the town of Hainesville.
The McHenry County Sheriff says ambulances transported two correctional guards and 16 detainees from the crash, which happened around 1:30 p.m.
It's not believed the injuries are life-threatening. All inmates remain in custody.
Grayslake Police are investigating the crash. A preliminary investigation found that the bus collided with a sedan that was turning left onto Hainesville Road.
The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
