CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Metra riders were frustrated on the first day of a new ticketing procedure, and they can expect more of the same today.

Thursday was day one without ticket windows. Tickets had to be purchased on the Ventra App. It crashed.

“It’s not the way we would have liked it to go,” a Metra representative said.

It's been working with Cubic, the company behind the app.

The latest alert, posted this morning, says, “The Ventra app is available for ticket purchases, but riders may still experience intermittent purchase errors,” Metra posted in their latest alert.  “We continue to work to completely resolve the issue.  We apologize for any inconvenience.”

In addition to the elimination of ticket windows, Thursday marked the beginning of several other changes for Metra. It included the reduction of fare zones as well as getting rid of ten-ride tickets.
