Virtual Reality helmets continue to improve, but they aren't quite ready to dethrone the TV and the tablet.

While reviewers say the headsets promise an immersive experience, tech consultant Shelly Palmer told the WBBM Noon Business Hour that there are some bugs that need to be worked out.

"Fun fact: About 30% of people who have put these headsets on either get a headache or become nauseated 15 minutes into the experience," Palmer said.

Virtual reality headsets could be to the virtual metaverse what the smartphone was to the social media revolution, the app that makes virtual worlds easy and accessible to all. But right now, Palmer says, it may not win over people who are used to playing video games on their desktop computers.

"Gamers haven't really gotten into it because they love high refresh rate, very high resolution big screens and mechanical keywords," Palmer said.
