DIXMOOR,Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Water is back on in Dixmoor after two water main breaks had some residents saying, ‘here we go again.’

The village’s pumps burned up following a drop in pressure due to water main breaks last fall.

At the time, Village President Fitzgerald Roberts explained it like this:

"All this is old infrastructure, so once you mess with the valve and you reopen it, you get what you call a hammer effect," he said.

"It just goes down the line busting the pipe wherever the weakest points are."

The village was giving residents bottled water then and is doing so again. While the latest breaks have been repaired, a boil order remains in effect.
