A west suburban couple is hoping some recent news stories about the murder of their son three years ago will generate some leads for Naperville police and ultimately bring the killer to justice.
College Professor Matthew Lange of Oswego was 37 when he was shot execution-style as he waited to pick up his 4-year-old son in January 2017.
The boy's grandparents — Matthew Lange's parents — get to see the child every other week.
"He's doing quite well," David Lange told WBBM Newsradio Thursday.
He and his wife, Sandy, are still hoping a $50,000 reward will bring in the tip that will lead to an arrest.
"We just want it solved," says Sandy Lange.
"We know it's not going to bring anything back," adds David Lange. "We've never had closure, so we don't know if it's going to do any good or not. But it would be nice not to have to deal with all of this, day in and day out."
Court documents have mentioned a "strained relationship" between Matthew Lange and his ex-wife — some of that related to custody issues.
WBBM Newsradio has tried to reach Matthew Lange's ex-wife.
