(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Five people went to the hospital - including one with life-threatening injuries - after a crash early this morning in West Ridge, on Chicago’s far north side.

Four of those who paramedics took to the hospital were in a black SUV that Chicago police say was hit when the driver of a yellow sedan allegedly ignored a stop sign at Rosemont and Albany shortly after midnight.

A 14-year-old boy in the backseat of the SUV was initially in critical condition. While a 15-year-old girl, 48-year-old woman and the 56-year-old man driving were in good condition.

Air bags in both cars went off.

Police say they are ticketing the 25-year-old driver of the yellow car, who was taken to the hospital for observation. His 17-year-old male passenger refused treatment.
