West Side Christmas celebration brings in Mr. T and former Bulls, Bears players

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There was an early Christmas celebration on the West Side Wednesday for dozens of seniors at the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels.

Glenda Smith was among those enjoying the music, and the meal.

“Everyone come together for Christmas. The sisters always show us a lot of respect and love and every, you know, every time we come here, so Christmas is a time to be together,” Smith said.

Linda Higgs was among those enjoying the music, and the meal.

“I come every Wednesday for our Our Lady of the Angels Bible study and they always recognize the Christmas season usually with Mendoza and their staff and stuff. And just to celebrate the holidays because it's such a joyous time and one of my favorite time of the year,” Higgs said.

Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s Office hosted the 10th Annual Culinary Kids Christmas Kitchen event.

Mr. T and former Bulls player Mickey Johnson, and former Bears receiver Wendell Davis were among those who also attended.
