West Side murder suspect arrested at O'Hare

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Naperville man wanted for a fatal stabbing on the West Side last month was arrested at O’Hare International Airport.

Alexander Iwerebon, 45, was apprehended last Friday at O’Hare by CPD officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged with first degree murder. Police said Iwerebon is suspected of stabbing and killing a 45-year-old man on Division near Menard on Nov. 14.

Iwerebon has an extensive criminal history. Six years ago, he was held on $200,000 bond for stabbing an acquaintance in Naperville.

In 2020, Iwerebon was also charged with seven felonies, misdemeanors and traffic violations, for being in possession of a stolen vehicle along with 14 other offenses, mostly related to drug possession and open container violations.

Iwerebon was slated for a court appearance on Monday.
