If you aren't able to travel to Wine Country, MCG Winery in Elk Grove Village might be your next best option.
The microwinery is now open for private tasting appointments at 110 Joey Drive. The new location doubles as a production facility and tasting room for the company, which was founded in 2020 by president Michael Goeringer.
The grapes come from three regions in California — the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area, Napa Valley and Sonoma coast. They arrive via refrigerated truck and are then processed in Elk Grove within 24 hours.
Those grapes are then sorted, de-stemmed and crushed, and that product is transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation that lasts up to two weeks. Then the wine moves to French oak barrels, where it's aged for 20 months.
