(670 The Score) The White Sox have hired John Schriffen as their new television play-by-play broadcaster, the club announced Thursday.
Schriffen, 39, previously worked at ESPN. He replaces Jason Benetti, who left the White Sox in November to become the Detroit Tigers' television play-by-play announcer. Schriffen signed a multi-year deal with the White Sox, the team said.
“I grew up playing and loving the game of baseball, so it is an ultimate dream to have accepted the role as play-by-play voice of the Chicago White Sox,” Schriffen said in a statement. “When you consider all the great and talented broadcasters who have worked White Sox games over the decades, being handed this responsibility truly is humbling."
Schriffen will work alongside White Sox color analyst Steve Stone, who has been with the team since 2008.
At ESPN, Schriffen called MLB games, college basketball, college football, NBA Summer League action and more.
The White Sox open their 2024 regular season on March 28, when they host the Tigers in Chicago.
