CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - With wicked winds on this Halloween, trick-or-treaters will need to hang on tight to their candy bags.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for all area counties, effective until 10 p.m. tonight. The wind will howl from the west all day, averaging 25 to 35 mph. Gusts could reach 50 mph, the NWS says.
The strong winds have the potential to blow unsecure outdoor objects such as Halloween decorations and could knock off tree limbs. The NWS says a few power outages are possible.
Overall, the trick-or-treating weather forecast is neither a ruse or delightful. Temperatures will steadily fall throughout the day, AccuWeather says, with temperatures plummeting into the mid 50s. But, given the harsh winds, it will feel even brisker. Wind chill levels could dip below 40 degrees, the NWS notes.
If there is a silver lining, the rain showers that have hung around should leave by the afternoon. AccuWeather says there could even be a few breaks of sunshine.
