CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two suspects have been taken into custody following a high speed chase on the Dan Ryan Expressway during the afternoon commute.
The wild pursuit reportedly began on the Northwest Side near Addison and Kedzie, in the Avondale neighborhood.
Chicago Police said officers were responding to a call of a crash involving a suburban police officer. Suspects in the crash vehicle, a Nissan Rogue SUV fled the scene.
The SUV reportedly sped away and led officers on a chase that spilled onto the Kennedy and Dan Ryan Expressways.
CBS News Chicago Skywatch reporter Kris Habermhel said it was on the outbound Dan Ryan, near 31st Street, where the suspects abandoned the SUV and jumped into a minivan.
In the 4 p.m. hour, police vehicles were seen chaotically chasing the minivan, moving from lane to lane. One squad car hit the van and then a concrete barrier.
Ultimately, the pursuit soon ended at 71st and Lafayette when squad cars boxed in the minivan. The two suspects were then arrested.
