(WBBM NEWSRADIO)— Auto body shops could be reaping any benefits of the weekend storm that put as much as 13 inches of snow on the ground.
With 11 inches of snow in Homer Glen over the weekend, Kevin Flondor expects his Bump and Grind Auto Body Shop to be busy this week. He started getting calls for estimates first thing Monday.
"One of them I looked at this morning was a little fender bender on the front. The other one, actually, was a rear-end impact in a parking lot at Target. The rear bumper was actually torn off of it and it slid into the side of the car, almost."
Believe it or not, Flondor says weekday snow storms that drop a mere 1 or 2 inches by the evening rush period generally result in more crashes compared to bigger storms.
People prepare more for the big storms and get off the road before they arrive, he said.
"I was out on the road before it hit and it seemed like the grocery stores and all the stores, people were getting ready for it so the roads were real busy prior to that," he says of the weekend storm.
