CATOOSA, OKLA. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A woman connected to the suspect in last weekend’s murders of a Romeoville family has died.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said the woman found critically wounded after a crash and shooting involving the suspect in the case has died of her injuries.
Wednesday, Romeoville police revealed 31-year-old Nathaniel Huey of Streamwood was a person of interest in the killing of Alberto Rolon, Zoraida Bartolmai, their two sons and three dogs inside their home.
Deputy Romeoville Police Chief Chris Burne said police issued a statewide alert, in an attempt to look for Huey and a family member. He said state troopers in Oklahoma got a hit on the Streamwood man’s vehicle thanks to a digital license plate reader Wednesday morning. They tried to pull over the vehicle, but Burne said it sped away, crashed and caught fire.
“Officers on scene heard two noises believed to be gunshots,” Burne said.
A woman in the passenger’s side was found shot. The driver, identified as Huey, also was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Romeoville police said Wednesday that there was a link between Huey and the family as well as potential motive, but would discuss their findings further.
