PALATINE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A woman who was in labor and on the way to a hospital had to stop short on Monday evening in Palatine.

The 29-year-old woman was with her mother heading to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. She knew they wouldn’t make it.
She had been there before, having given birth four times previously.

They stopped at Fremd High School in Palatine and called 9-1-1. They had to park in a fire lane because the lot was full because of a basketball game.

And before paramedics arrived, the baby was born.

The mother and baby girl were taken to the hospital and were fine.

The Deputy Fire Chief, Anthony Lavacchi said “it was a normal childbirth except for being in a car.”
