(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police are investigating an incident early Friday morning during which a woman was shot and wounded while confronting people trying to break into her car on the South Side.
The woman was shot while in her apartment window, according to police. It happened at about 4:30 a.m. at 74th and Eberhart.
The 52-year-old woman told police she heard someone trying to break into her car, a Kia. There were three males, according to police.
She confronted them from the elevated first floor window. One of the three fired and the woman was hit in the right shoulder.
They did not get away with the car, but ran away. The woman was being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
No one is in custody at this time as police continue to investigate.
