CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – Two men targeted women walking alone in three armed robberies in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, according to a Chicago police community alert.
The men approached the women on the street, displayed a black handgun and demanded rings and jewelry, police said.
The robberies were reported at these locations:
* The 300 block of West Webster Avenue at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 17.
* The 2200 block of North Halsted Street at 3:33 p.m. Sept. 20.
* The 1800 block of West Larrabee Street at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 20.
Police described one suspect as a man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a heavy build. He wore a gray ski mask, a black T-shirt and black pants. The second suspect was described as a man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a black mask and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Authorities urged people to remain aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity and avoid pursuing anyone fleeing a robbery. Anyone with surveillance footage that could help investigators is asked to preserve it.
