(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Susan G. Komen has partnered with YogaWorks to create YogaWorksPink — a first-of-its-kind program tailored specifically to the needs of breast cancer patients and survivors.
Susan Brown is the Senior Director of Health Information and Publications at Susan G. Komen.
“The range of ability and limitations varies greatly, from the person who's been recently diagnosed and perhaps had surgery and those who have been in survivorship for perhaps years,” Brown said.
Brown said instructors adjust their classes to accommodate those physical needs and more.

“It usually includes some element of meditation and breathing in addition to movement, and this can lead to improvement in flexibility, balance, strength, [as well as] help manage stress and anxiety, which is so common,” she said.
Brown said within the first two weeks of its launch, more than 400 people signed up for the YogaWorksPink program.
The program provides a free, three-month membership for those who sign up. After that, there are discounted rates with 25% going to Susan G. Komen.
