CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you're walking around downtown Chicago and a young woman offers you a wristband you should probably take one or at least listen.

WBBM met 21-year-old Chicagoan Kalia Smith at Millennium Park on a recent weekend when she offered us a wristband.

"We just come out here and spread positivity around," she said with a smile.

She was handing out two variations of the one size fits all rubber wristbands. One had the words, "I Believe In You, Keep Going You Got This," while the other proclaimed "Excuses Don't Get It Done, Action Does."

Kalia said she and her father have been doing this since 2019, hoping to make people feel better.

They accept any donation to help them buy more wristbands to, as Smith says, "spread around more positivity."

She said everyone has different reactions. Some people say "I love what you're doing. Others are like, 'I'm OK, but keep doing what you're doing."
