Actress Shelley Duvall, best known for her role in “The Shining" and her work with director Robert Altman, died on Thursday.
Duvall’s partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed her death to The Hollywood Reporter, noting the actress died “ in her sleep of complications from diabetes” at her home in Texas.
Duvall’s career began in the 70’s after she met Robert Altman, who cast her in “Brewster McCloud.” She would go on to appear in seven Altman films including 1977's “3 Women" and 1980's "Popeye," with Robin Williams starring as the titular character and Duvall as Olive Oyl.
It was also in 1980 where she starred in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” as the tortured wife of Jack Nicholson’s character.
She launched Think Entertainment in 1988, where she produced children’s television and films including Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle.
After disappearing from Hollywood, Duvall appeared in an episode of ‘Dr. Phil’ in 2016 where she discussed her issues with her mental health.
Her last movie was 2023’s “The Forest Hills.”
Duvall was 75 years old at the time of her death.
