March 2 through the 8 marks Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois. It’s the perfect time to get ready for the season ahead, according to Kayla Palmore with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio.

As we transition into a period of snow, rain, wind, lightning, and flooding, Illinois weather can change quickly.

After a harsh Midwestern winter, tornadoes have already touched down downstate, showing how unpredictable this time of year can be.

When storms strike and cause damage, storm chasers are often close behind, arriving in impacted neighborhoods, offering quick fixes or deals that seem unusually low.

These contractors may be unqualified or disappear with your money.

Have a storm safety plan and a list of vetted, trustworthy contractors ready before severe weather hits.
