After hearing someone's bloodcurdling screams for help, alarmed residents in Enid, Oklahoma called police, fearing someone was in a life-or-death situation.
But it turns out that wasn't the case.
When a pair of officers arrived in the area, they traced the cries to a nearby farm, according to the Enid Police Department.
"The officers began walking toward the faint sound of someone yelling. As they got closer, Officer Sneed could hear a distinct yell for 'help,'" police said on Facebook.
The department posted body cam footage of the search, in which one officer says, "I think it's a person," after hearing the screams.
The officers pick up speed as the cries for "help" get louder. Both men can't help but laugh when they realize where the sound is coming from.
"Running toward the sound, the two soon discovered their damsel in distress was a very upset goat," police said.
The goat's owner explained that the animal was angry because it had been separated from one of its friends.
"From a long distance, it sounds like 'help,'" one of the officers remarked with a laugh.
The department thanked the officers for their swift actions, even if not necessary in the end.
"All in all, you really can't say it was that baaad of a call," police said.
