PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Drivers traveling on I-95 in Wilmington, Delaware passed by a sign for an exit to Delaware Avenue, created by a contractor for the Delaware Department of Transportation.
But there was a slight problem. The sign said "Delware Ave."
In a tweet, the Delaware DOT said, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, that all the drivers who noticed the change and told the DOT about the misspelling "passed the test!"
In reality, the DOT said the contractor made the error, and is replacing the sign in a move that "does not waste taxpayer money."
The Delaware DOT even evoked the tea-drinking Kermit the Frog in its thread about the misspelled marker.
