Doctors are now encouraging pregnant women to get vaccinated against COVID-19...insisting it's safe.
Two medical organizations are recommending that pregnant women get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cited evidence this week from "tens of thousands of reporting individuals over the last several months."
Doctors say the vaccine is safe and effective for women during all stages of pregnancy and remind people that the COVID-19 infection puts pregnant people at an "increased risk of severe complications and even death."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says only about 22 percent of pregnant women have received one or more doses of the vaccine.
